As a country that prides itself on multiculturalism, Canada’s workforce ought to reflect its population. But time and again, its largest and most lucrative industries have systematically excluded diverse communities, limiting the range and quality of ideas and talent we have access to.

At POV, diversity is more than ticking off a box. It’s less about what we say and more about what we do. Beyond a buzzword, there is a moral and economic imperative to ensure the film, television and creative industries we work in enable individuals who have a variety of life experiences  to thrive to make the sector more creative and more innovative.

Our programs intentionally prioritize BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomer and refugee communities to ensure everyone has access to the tools and training they need to tell the stories that mean the most to them. Slowly but surely, the impact of this work is being felt, but we are determined to do more. To expand our efforts, we are launching the “Next Gen” campaign to raise funds to drive our program growth nationally to train 1,000 creatives across Canada by 2028 to empower even more deserving creators to build sustainable and resilient careers in the creative industry.
