2022 TIFF Next Wave 48 Hour Film Challenge
POV and Future of Film Showcase partnered with TIFF Next Wave for their annual 48 Film Challenge and tasked 25 teams of emerging creatives to create a short film (3 minutes long) in 48 hours. This year's theme was "Open Road," and each film required the following tasks to qualify for the grand prize:
Theme: "Open Road" - A summer road trip, a midnight drive, a bike ride to nowhere, a journey to somewhere new
Challenge shot: "Body Camera Shot" - When the camera is mounted to the performer's body, presenting a dynamic point of view shot.
Mandatory prop: Broken Mirror
Mandatory line of dialogue: Each team is assigned one line of compulsory dialogue from songs selected by the TIFF Next Wave Committee:
"Show a little faith, there's magic in the night."— Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen"I'm a fine-tuned supersonic speed machine."— Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna "The radio reminds me of my home far away."— Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver"Starting from zero, got nothing to lose."— Fast Car by Tracy Chapman "I've decided my future lies."— Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John"My life is a movie."— Old Town Road by Lil Nas X
Location shot: "Open Road" - A (mostly) empty street, avenue, or laneway; a stretch of open road.
